The phrase is ‘quedarse ciego’.

I would have interpreted “quedarse ciego” as “to have become blind”. How would you distinguish “He is going blind [losing his sight]” from “He has gone blind”? I would equate “Se quedó ciego” with the latter but not the former.

How about se está quedando ciego?

‘Perder vision‘ is also an option, I would think.

A more polite way to say it might be, (esta perdiendo la vista),
And a more polite way to say ciego is (invidente).

I posted the infinitive form, believing that folks who speak Spanish can conjugate what they need.

I posted the infinitive form, believing that folks who speak Spanish can conjugate what they need.

Now that I am going blind I have to be very careful when trying to conjugate with someone.

Bienvenidos a todos. La expression. ‘quedarse ciego’, means- (esta ciego), which denote it already happen. Going blind means a process of different levels of vision, but (not final). Depending on the Spanish Heritage the expressions would be. 1- se esta quedando ciego. 2- esta perdiendo la vista. 3- no puede ver bien. Remember, the English ( ing) in Spanish is, ( endo – ando), which is grammatically called in Spanish, ‘presente continuado’. The three different expressions depending on the country, or Spanish Heritage

Invidente means blind. Quedándose ciego means gong blind.
