Richard Ferguson has been visiting Mexico since the mid-1980s. He and his wife, Marianne, have been to more than 20 Mexican states. They find that they enjoy the same places in Mexico that Mexican tourists enjoy, and are just as happy if they are the only gringos in town. His favorite places in Mexico are Veracruz city, Chiapas, and the town of Guanajato.
Richard started learning Spanish after his first trip to Mexico, intending to just learn enough to get by. But he got carried away with classes and tutors, and now reads and speaks Spanish fairly fluently. It makes the trips to Spanish speaking countries more convenient and more interesting. He reads a Mexican newspaper on the internet every morning, to stay informed and practice his Spanish.
Richard is a retired engineer, and now travels, does volunteer work, and metal sculpture. His website is www.fergusonsculpture.com
