Beldon Butterfield

Born and raised in Argentina, the U.S. educated author came to Mexico with Time Inc., and eventually became acutely aware of the “narcoculture” in his adopted country. The author’s novel The Line/La Línea, is based on consultations with Mexican law enforcement agents, narcotraficantes and DEA agents attached to the U.S Consulate in Guadalajara, Mexico.

While living in Guadalajara, Beldon published eight destination magazines along the west coast of Mexico called About ( About Mazatlan, About Puerto Vallarta, etc). His first novel, The Crystal Bull, dealt with the coming-of-age of three aspiring Mexican matadors. He was also the producer of Arruza, a full feature documentary on the life of the great Mexican matador – Carlos Arruza, released through Columbia Pictures. In 2007 a short story titled “The Rosary” appeared in the new book release, Solamente en San Miguel.
