Lake Chapala, summer 1965. Looking west from the BeerGarden, fishing boats pull up on the beach. In 1965, the lake was at level 96, almost exactly the same level as it is today in 2009. During the 1950s, the lake had come perilously close to drying up completely, one year dipping below level 91.
