Joel Velasco Lara's family interprets the China Poblana in terracotta. The low cut embroidered blouse, full skirt, white petticoat and shawl are attributed to Catarina de San Juan, a Hindu princess who was kidnapped by pirates, sold into slavery, and who lived in Puebla in the 1600s.
