Prudencio Guzman Rodriguez of Tonala, Jalisco, not only crafts Tastoan masks, but also takes part in the annual performances. A tradition that originated in 12th century Spain, the Tastoan dance re-enacts Spain's liberation from the Moors with the miraculous help of Saint James. In Mexico, it makes reference to the Spanish Conquest.
