The colourful wooden boats of Xochimilco, called 'trajineras,' were once festooned with arches of fresh flowers and sweeping branches of junipers. Today, they are decorated with brightly painted flowered wooden arches, each one with a woman's name — Maria Isabel; Carmelita, Lupita.
