Mexico Connect - The General Forum
www.mexconnect.com/wwwboard/index.html
    /5
Here is the English-speaking "insider club" of all things Mexican. Welcoming
visitors, the page reads: “This Forum is for viewers wishing to exchange ideas
and information about Mexico with like-minded folks.” This virtual bulletin
board is one of my personal favorites and the best place to ask a question
about a place you haven't visited or provide a traveler's tale of a recent
journey. For commercial queries, the site has a Business Forum. Hungry for Mexican cuisine?
Be sure to visit the site's Mexican Kitchen Forum.
Latin American Connection Newsletter - June 1999
Recipes Issue
This site is almost completely bilingual. You can search the recipes
by ingredient or by dish. It also has a cooking forum and a section
for suggestions. The thing I liked most about the site were the
temperature and measurement converters and the fact that the names of
the ingredients are in English and in Spanish.

Mexico Connect
http://www.mexconnect.com
Rating: /5
Here's a Web site that does everything right. Lake Chapala-based Mexico Connect appears on the Web as a monthly digest of Mexican travel, business and cultural information. Run by David McLaughlin, the site features articles by well-known Mexico writers Joe Cummings, Tony Burton and Stan Gotlieb, who writes an always memorable "Letter from Oaxaca."
The result is a smorgasbord of unusual features that will urge you to put on your explorer cap. Mexico Connect eschews the beach resorts to tout lesser-known destinations, such as Zacatecas and rural Jalisco. The site also provides economic updates, a reader bulletin board and recipes from the Mexican kitchen. You'll even find past columns of Mexico on the Web here (http://www.mexconnect.com/mex_/travel/rmader/rmaderindex.html).
WRITERS COMMENTS
I need to tell you David that I've received more reader's comments about
my work on Mexico Connect with more interesting comments than I ever received
in ten years of mass market publications, top 50 market newspapers, good
magazines and airline inflights. And the reason for and the interest of the
readers who contact me is quite encouraging to me as an author seeking an
audience. You've got a good readership in quality and quantity, and I
appreciate the opportunity for my work to appear on your website.

I wanted to tell you how much I love your site. I access it regularly and
spend a lot of time browsing and reading. It is so full of charm and
information; it delights and teaches at the same time.
I did mention this site in my article: "Living and Working in Mexico: Web
Resources" that I have currently published on Themestream. I also plan on
rewriting and reslanting the article and submitting it in other venues.

Comparing the first issue with the current one, I see growth, expansion
in a variety of directions, and I find my time is never equal to my
interest.
What has not changed is the ambiance. This magazine is extremely well
organized, and easier to find one's way around in than any site on the
Web. Some of the original contributors continue to excite, entertain &
inform us, while many others have been added. I don't know how many
people are involved in keeping up the site and preparing the magazine,
but you are, one and all, deserving of every accolade that could be
bestowed.
Thank you - Gracias - Muchas Gracias!!!

Hello. I discovered your site last week and this site is truly amazing.
For someone that loves the Latin culture, music, futbol, the people etc. It
is great to discover. To see links about Retirement, a job search and being
able to post your resume are incredible also. I will tell my friends about
this. Are you aware of a similar site for countries like Bolivia, Peru,
Colombia, Venezuela, and Honduras?
Best of luck with the site. I have now made
it my home page.

As a long-time MexConnect lurker, I want to compliment you on the depth and grace with which your site is maturing.
I've been doing some Mexican history study and research and, in connection with the current political turmoil, I needed to know more about the historic incident at Tlatelolco. As a long shot, I went to your magazine page, selected Search, entered Tlatelolco, and Bingo! I had 28 excellent links, four of which provided me with all the information I needed. Very impressive.

You will definitely find some great Mexican manufacturers here! In fact this is by far the best forum for south of the border merchandise you will find anywhere on the
net! I have made some very lucrative contacts through this board, and you will as well if you look at it frequently.
Good luck with your new business!

Other parts of this site offer some extraordinarily excellent information on this very subject. Do yourself a favor and search through the various articles that have appeared in the magazine, and that are listed under the various authors in the index to the site. There are other linked sites where various columnists offer advice. Read through the questions and answers that are still in the thread. My experience has been that no other site will offer you the depth of helpful information.Few of your questions will go unanswered. Search these things out yourself. As Sidney Potier(?) said recently, "The reward is in the journey." Good luck!

Generally speaking, I am not a "letter-to-the-editors" type, but I will set this attribute aside to tell you that I believe your site is outstanding, in intent, content,
function, and service. Keep it up! Regards..........

I just wanted to say that I think your website is outstanding, both in
presentation and content. I think you can go ahead and quit your day job
anytime now!
In making our decision to move down here we extensively used the resources
that MexConnect provides and I will tell you it was a major factor in our
ultimate decision. I was enheartened to see your interest in broadening the
exposure into the academic arena.

I have read with much interest, your magazine over the past many months,
but I believe this is the best issue yet. I could tell you that I've
enjoyed the conversations in the forum. I could tell you I enjoy the
sense of Mexico that I have gained from reading the many wonderful
articles. I could also tell you that I have gained friendships that have
enriched my life and broadened my horizons. Reading your magazine is
all those things, but most of all, it is the sense that when I finally
am able to go to Mexico, I will be going home, to the place I have
dreamed of for many years.
Thank you for your outstanding effort.
