| Morelia is the capital of Michoacan. The architecture is colonial style and the momentum of civic intent is to promote and preserve this inheritance. The city is organized around a large central square with fountains, trees, a bandstand, and a spectacularly maintained cathedral. There is also a large city park and a zoo. |

| The portico on the north side of the zocalo features the tables for coffee drinking. Even after noon in the heat, coffee is the preferred beverage. | In Bosque Cuauhtemoc (the large city park) swans enjoy a swim. A map in the museum shows that the park was once one quarter of the city. It looks to be about a third of its original size. |
