Pictures of Ichupio, Mexico

The tourist office in Tzintzuntzan was very helpful, and the young lady told me that if I walked southwest along the lake for about 20 minutes I would come to the village of Ichupio. I was very glad I did because when I got there they were having a celebration with action in the church, bandstand, and basketball court. With these three structures, there is almost no room for any houses in the town so I don't know where all the people were coming from though the taxis were busy ferrying people here. The road south along the lake climbs above the town, so it is a delightful experience of stairs and terraces down into these photos.

Looking east at the church. There was something like a wedding or a first communion going on. But it was Tuesday! South of the church in the same plaza is this bandstand. Here it is full of musicians making lively music.

At the next terrace below the church (west) toward the lake basketball action is about to happen. Below the basketball court, this was about where the path to the lake became too much of a thicket to walk.
