Zócalo:
The Zócalo is the main square of Oaxaca. Always teeming with locals
and tourists the Zócalo is the musical, gastronomical, political,
and geographical center of Oaxaca.
It seems as if there's a celebration or fiesta every day in Oaxaca. Here is a glimpse of some of the major ones.
Dozens of small villages are easily accessible in less than an hour by car, bus, or collectivo from Oaxaca City. Pictures of rural people and places present contrasting images to city life.
In the city of Oaxaca and the surrounding villages, you will find craftsmen and artists of all kinds working in their homes and workshops.
The best way to experience Oaxaca is on foot. It's a city of contrasts - ancient/modern, busy/quiet, bright/somber, young/old... a visual feast.
