VACATION HIDEAWAYS AROUND MONTERREY AND SALTILLO

For 40 years or more I have vacationed in this area (not too far from home in Central Texas). I especially liked Horsetail Falls just south of Monterrey, nice rustic cabanas separated from the hotel, individual patios with private outdoor cooking areas, a great place to lay back, rest up, get away from it all and charge them old batteries, but close enough to restaurants and bars for when needed. I missed a few years of Mexico due to work, commitments, married a lady I met working in Virginia and told her about my special hideaway in Mexico. When we found the time we went to Horsetail Falls. It ain’t there no more!! What was, is gone now. It’s just a huge high-rise, high-dollar, tourist trap. Any suggestions where I could take my wife to find some place something similar to what Horsetail Falls used to be?? I'll never go back there.

Hi, try Rancho el Murillo at Saltillo. They have a website: www.ranchoelmurillo.com for more information. It is in the city, but you would never know it. Big, heated swimming pool, lots of trees, grass, and QUIET. They treat you like you are in your own home. Good luck. JerezanoPosted by Texas Dave on Junio 09, 2000
WOW! High-rise, high-dollar, tourist trap on Horsetail Falls? That’s sad to hear! Like they always say, "call it paradise and say goodbye." Try Chipinque, in Garza Garcia N.L. (the valley of Monterrey area). It’s up in the mountains, with breathtaking views, fresh air and peace. Toward the top of the mountain (Chipinque) there is a hotel (cabins) with bar, restaurant etc. It sounds exactly what you are looking for! But please, no matter what! Do not call it paradise! ....Texas Dave
