Pictures of Acatepec, Mexico
San Francisco Acatepec is a small town on the back (southerly) road between Puebla and Cholula known for its elaborately decorated church. Tonantzintla, Tlaxcalancingo, and Acatepec form a trio of towns along this way that seem to have competed in producing some of the finest dislays of decorative artistry in Mexico. Exteriors use local azulejos (talavera) tile and interiors employ intricate painting and gilding. (Pictures taken May 4, 2004)
