Pictures Of Ixcateopan, Mexico
Ixcateopan is the famed birthplace and resting place of Cuauhtemoc, last Aztec emperor reigning for the brief period after Montezuma died. Also famous are the streets of marble since that is the most common stone in the area.
Twenty pesos will bring you here in a microbus west from Taxco over an interesting route that last about an hour. Sure enough as I neared the town there was roadside quarrying with portable neumatic equipment. There is an acceptable hotel here for 150 pesos single. (Pictures taken April 23, 2004)
