Pictures Of Puebla (state) by Rick Meyer

Puebla is primaily a rural state in Mexico. Its capital also named Puebla is the notable exception. Founded on the route between Mexico City and Veracruz in the sixteenth century, the industrial city prospered. It has become famous throughout Mexico and indeed the world for its preserved colonial architecture, handpainted talavera pottery, and the related azulejos tile. These ceramics show Spanish-Arabic, and asia, and native influences. In the ancient religious site of Cholula, just 10 km west of Puebla City, you will find the world's largest pyramid (by volume). The churches in tiny towns of Tonantzintla and Acatepec between Puebla and Cholula are perhaps the best representations of locally produced, highly decorative ceramic exterior architecture.
