1009Kbps down/284Kbps up. According to the chart I'm supposed to be receiving between 512 and 1280Kbps down and 256 and 384Kbps up. So I guess I'm doing OK though I have to tell you I'm not thrilled about that 512 number... that wasn't there when I first signed up. :/ Now, the bigger question concerns latency. The quality of the connection as perceived by the user is almost always due to latency and not to overall bandwidth (for the newbies, latency can be described as how quick you get a response back, as opposed to how much response you get.) And I have to say, that over the past week or so, my latency has sucked. Websites seem to take forever to load, and I had a bad ssh experience too (but I don't use that too much so... whatever.) That said... Whenever I have these problems, I just remember how grateful I was when I learned that I would be able to get DSL while in Mexico. It isn't a given even NOB. I pay about one-third more than I used to for DSL, for about one-third less speed. But the way I figure it, I make it all up in avocados. To boldly go where no wig has gone before.
