Thanks to everyone for the help! I first spoke with the local company who did not see me in their network. They had me switch to side A which enabled local calling but not international, then transferred me to Verizon who enabled Mexico roaming on my phone which fixed the international calling problem. However back in Mexico City my phone stopped working, I switched back to side B, no luck, after a long conversation with the local company again they transferred me to Verizon who disabled Mexico roaming and enabled International dialing which fixed everything. I have to say the local phone company has very nice helpful phone support in english - but that is ridiculous if I have to go through account changes with Verizon each time I switch cities! Patricia
