Anyone have experience with their 2 way service?
The $1500 version, not the $6000 one?

I have experience with Starband 2-way satellite (in the US), that's what I use. I know both Starband, and Direcway will work fine in many, if not all areas of Mexico. Do you have any specific questions about how it works? It works good. SuperFast download speeds, upload speed is about the same speed as dial-up.

Here are a couple of links you may, or may not already have.

David: Are you sure the service will work in Mexico? The satellite internet requires a much stronger signal than does video. If you were at Maz. or further south I doubt it would work unless you had a huge dish (10 ft.)

it will work I am certain. With the standard dish, or a 1 metre.. no more. Contact dbstv, they install them all over Mexico, Belize, Guatamala, Panama etc etc.

I think the poster was referring to the USA sytem. The system sold in Mexico is a whole other story. Very expensive. I think the system costs about $1000.00 They insist on doing the install. The monthly fees are very high and do nbot include the ISP. Plus you do not get unlimited service. The USA direcway cannot be bought over the counter. They do the install and setup.

The Usa system is what I am talking about. Starband and DirecWay

In the US the System runs about $600-$800 plus $59-$69 a month. This is for a very basic installation. Anything out of the ordinary and the installation cost will soar. The system can NOT be self installed in the US or anywhwere. You have to have a certified installer commission the system. Installing in Mexico would be considered "out of the ordinary"

Now the trick is to find a certified installer in your area of Mexico. I assume you know it is illegal to do this, and the companies (Direcway or Starband) must be made to believe you are really situated in the US. Once you find such a person that has the know-how it is not any problem. The DBSTV people have made a business out of it. They will have a certified installer travel to your house in Mexico and install it. There are some tricks you have to know to make it work. The people at DBSTV have learned the tricks.

I don't sell them or install them, or work for DBSTV. I just know for sure they will work because I have friends that have them, and I have seen the system working. I also know several people in Mexico with the Starband 2-way satellite system (working) and it works on the "stock" antenna. About 24"

If you live in an area where there is a satellite TV person, he'd most likely be your man. There are a number of independent satellite people that specialize in that stuff.

They are great for areas without telephone service. I admit it will cost you a lot more to have it in Mexico than...say Kansas. But when it comes to electronic gadgets, what doesn''t?

It's like anything else, if you want it bad enough and keep hunting for ways to do it, anything is possible.

I have only told you a couple of ways...I'm sure there are more
