Hi Pete.

Do you have any influence with laguna.com? I wonder if they're blocking all mail from prodigy accounts or if it's just mine? Can you help?

I just got this message:

Your message cannot be delivered to the following recipients:

Pete may be able to enter your address as trusted so it can go through but the real problem is not lagunanet but Prodigy. Prodigy is blocked fairly frequently by spam cop because they do not take reasonable steps to prevent spammers from using their network. You will find at different times that you can't send email to aol or earthlink or wherever and it will be because of the spam they have traced back to Prodigy. Complain to Prodigy if you can, at least send an email protest. It probably won't help as I doubt anyone reads complaints at Prodigy.

Hey, let me take a look. I will go downstairs and fire up the computer connected to prodigy and send myself a message to my Lagunanet email address. I bet what your sending might just have some of the charactoristics of spam and therefore is automatically blocked by a spam filter, in this case SpamCop

I know that this sometimes happens to me went persons send complex emails to my US ISP.

Actually, this happened some time ago and I did complain to Prodigy.

This was the reply (and it worked then):

Puede deshabilitar el filtro antispam de su buzón. Para quitarlos entre a su buzón desde la pagina de Prodigy, pulse la pestaña de “OPCIONES”, después el botón de “OTRAS OPCIONES”, coloque una paloma en la casilla que indica que desea recibir spam, finalmente guarde los cambios y reinicie la sesión.

Sigh!

I just sent myself and email from Prodigy to Laguna, and it got through with no Problem. Jonna's comments were right on or spot on or whatever you say.

I'm guessing that Prodigy allowed a large number of spam to be sent out, that the Spam filters ID'd the IP number and blocked all email from that site for a set # of days. And this will continue as long as Prodigy allows so much spam through their system. Lagunanet got blocked once several years ago and ever since has been very aggressively going after anyone sending out spam through their mail server.

You might contemplate sending out your email from a gmail or yahoo account. They get blocked much less frequently than Prodigy.

Thank you, Peter.

Guess it's time to use my @mexconnect account! That alone is worth the subscription price.

Hey: I never thought of that. What a simple solution. Why open up a new account with Yahoo when you already have your Mexconnect web based email account?

My reading of their response is the opposite of what you need now. I believe they are telling you how to allow mail to be delivered to YOU at Prodigy, not for your mail to be delivered to someone else at another ISP.

Pete's right and usually these blocks are time limited and may even be IP range specific and not domain wide. It might help to turn off your prodigy modem if you are on Infinitum or to disconnect and dial in again if it is dial up. The object being to get a different IP number which may not be blocked.

If you'd like a gmail account I can send you an invite. I like gmail because there is practically no limit on storage and their filter and threading works really well so you can organize your email easily and keep it forever if you want. Let me know.

ps. Gmail is free!
