Windows Vista and Telmex Prodigy

Has anyone had trouble running the Prodigy Setup disk on Windows Vista? A friend can't seem
to get it to run the setup program. It's not recognized as a program she says.

The Prodigy setup disk won't run on Vista. It is not needed for Vista will allow you to set up Prodigy without a disk.

It is better to be thought a fool than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt.

Hi Bob. Terry here. My friend now tells me it's not that the setup wouldn't run but that
prodigy is not connecting after rebooting. Looks like it may be Vista is not allowing something
to run at startup. I just talked to her on the phone so I haven't actually seen the
problem. Do you know how the vista firewall stops new programs from running at
startup? BTW I just saw a germicidal lamp at the shop Handy Mail office for only
230 P but it is shorter than mine - only 18" instead of 21"(or so).

I have Windows Vista on my laptop and connect to three different routers each day, two are from Lagunanet and the other from Prodigy Infinitum. I don't ever remember having the type of problems you described. Sadly that doesn't help you solve your problem, but it let's you know that it is possible to use Vista with a 2Wire Prodigy wireless router.

Sorry I can't offer a solution for you.

I also, have not had problems setting up my Prodigy with Vista...I didn't use the two wire software...I connected the modem and wireless router myself. Prodigy has some English speaking techs who can help, if needed.

I recently got my son an HP laptop with Vista onboard and yes, he too has experienced some very roof edges in backward compatibility issues common and well noted in the PC world.

Since we build computers, most of the guru’s I speak to who build their own, have stayed away from Vista, due in part to compatibility issues. Especially “Gamers” have an abhorrence of Vista until their Service Packs hit mainstream.

Since we’ve been putting together PC’s for sometime now, we just recently put together a dynamite Gamers PC which just hums. Of course, the large four fans silent structure when one clocks the CPU makes it less vulnerable to failure but also most serious PC enthusiast are still opting for Windows XP with SP2 for reliability.

Good news on the horizon for Vista users. Beta SP1 as a first entry to Vista (9 months later after introduction) OS is right around the welcomed corner. Like Windows XP, fixing will be in motion and ongoing akin to XP.

Check the current review I received from my PC Magazine subscription.
