Will Shaw Direct be changing?

A friend of mine from Alberta mentioned that Shaw was sold and that he wondered what changes that might bring.

I also saw something about them changing satellites. Putting up a new one and moving channels and narrowing the signal beems?

Does anyone know anything about these?
I'd hate to have them narrow the signals like Dish did.

Their third satellite, Anik G-,1 is scheduled for launching as early as this month. It would appear that the new satellite channels they place on this bird will not be visible much farther south than a few hundred K south of the US Canadian border. No big deal. The other two work great down here. But eventually they will be upgraded too to newer satellites that may not be viewable this far south. Then again we still have several to many years until this occurs.

Look at it this way, DirecTV has great signals on a 2.4 meter dish. Maybe that is what we will need for Shaw. Or maybe as has happened in the past, maybe we will have to start streaming, or find larger Ku band satellite dishes.
