I would presume that you would have no problem as long as once you plugged the unit in, you could complete or receive a call on the fax/phone unit.
But I have never tried it.

Ken says "thanks Pete", he will hook it up. Our car maintenance program is assuring us that we are covered here in Mexico but Ken wants it in writing if the manufacturer has him go in to the dealer and pay up front adn then reimburse him.

Um, you might want to Google "Vonage" + "faxing" to see some second opinions...

Works great for some; not so great for many others...

I think that one must 'sign up' for fax capabilities before it will work (and then sometimes it is a crapshoot). I don't have Vonage but with my ViaTalk VoIP phone one must pay for a second fax line. I tried hooking up a phone/fax unit to my adapter once to see and it did not work when a friend tried to send a test fax to me.

If you google internet fax, you may find a different solution that will work for you. We got it one year when friends who were traveling with us were in the middle of a real estate deal. They got a fax number (US, it might have been an 800#) and when a fax came it was emailed to them. While camped on a beach in Perula, I had my Fed Tax Return faxed to me, signed it, scanned it, emailed it back and my tax preparer printed it and sent it in. Pretty slick.

Click on this link: http://www.vonage.com/index.php?ic=1&refer_id=27400178 It will take you to the Vonage home page. Click on the “services” button at the top of the page. Then click on the calling plan you have, and click on the “Learn more” button. Scroll down to ‘Add ons”, and there is information about fax service.

Fax service is included in some of the business plans; there is a US$9.99 activation fee and a monthly charge of US$9.99 for 250 outgoing minutes per month for most of the residential plans.

Personally, I have found the free version of eFax for incoming faxes, and going to an Internet café for the average of one outgoing fax I send every other year is the best solution for me. The free version of the eFax service will assign a fax number to you, the area code for that number is in Illinois; it turns incoming faxes into an Email, which is forwarded to you. They print out exactly as any regular fax does. https://wwwi.efax.com/es/efax/twa/productOverview

I got rid of faxing altogether by buying an iinexpensive scanner and installing software that turns it into pdfs. I then email the pdf. Saves a lot of hassle and you have a computer record of the actual document you faxed.

Most businesses you deal with can do this as well.

Hi Rolly!

I use PrimoPDF

http://www.primopdf.com/

Free, easy to download. One you have it, add it to your list of printers and you select it to "print" your scanned stuff.

NO adware!

I have a HP 4 way printer and we are able to send and recieve faxes using our Vonage line.

Oh, on a side note, many folks I know were having reception issues in Mexico on their Vonage lines. We all found that if we stopped any download/upload/streaming, etc activities on our PCs for the duration of the call, the voice quality cleared right up.
