There had been speculation that Vonage would be forced out of business due to patent infringement lawsuits. Vonage lost 2 jury verdicts earlier this year, and today it was announced that one of the suits was settled. Vonage will pay $80 million for past and future use of Sprint Nextel Corps. patents. The second lawsuit by Verizon that Vonage lost has not settled, but it is possible that Vonage can use Sprint's patents and not violate those by Verizon. My questions are-- Where is Vonage going to get the money to pay for this?? They are a money losing proposition to this point. Also, with their successes against Vonage, will Sprint and Verizon go after other VoIP providers? The patents involved deal with how the VoIP companies hook into the traditional land lines. Tim
