Vonage, otra vez

Our Vonage phone had been working just fine with our Telmex Prodigy Infinitum system. Then, the other day, it started cutting in and out big time. It turns out that Vonage has added a new updated version (that doesn't work for us.) We (that would be Nancy, my techie) tried backing down to the previous version. The phone worked fine for half of the first call. But then, during the call, Vonage automatically reinstated its new version, and the connection began cutting in and out again. Is anyone having a similar problem? Help!

I am not an expert with Vonage, so these are only guesses. I have a friend in Ajijic who connects to the internet using both the faster (up to) 1024/256 Kb/sec connection infinitum and the local Lagunanet, fixed WiFi 768/768 kb/s connection. Neither ISP works perfectly with VoIP, but both work the vast majority of the time with is Vonage.

Might this simply be a a bandwidth problem? There is a way, they tell me to set your vonage settings for a slower connection speed.

ANYONE else having these problems?

I JUST RECEIVED AN email letting my know that the friend I mentioned above uses Packet8 not Vonage.

We use vonage and are having no problems except when the DSL is out.
Unfortunately, I am a total technical illiterate, so can give you no help. We have had the system for about ten months.

I hope we never have a problem as the place we bought it assures us that they did not sell it to us, even though we have a receipt from them. The guy who sold it is long gone NoB. I suspect there was something illegal about their selling it, but I have no idea what or why.

It's working again. Nancy contacted Vonage tech support, and with their help, she was able to figure out what to do . She opened some UDP ports in the firewall and unblocked the ping????? (Obviously, I'm not the techie in the family, so I really don't have a clue what that means, but it's working.)
Thanks for your input.
