Tivo or Replay svce in Lakeside area?

Can't Post | Private Reply
Wondering if I should sell my Replay 5040 unit (works like TIVO) before moving to Lakeside. Search on whole forum showed only a few posts about TIVO from last year. None of them answered whether a TIVO or Replay will work with cable at Lakeside. If yes, in *all* the villages there, or only some? If yes, which ones have no such service and/or is there cable service to the entire north shore?

Thanks,

Tivo requires a telephone connection. Will a voip phone connection work with Tivo?

Hi,

I'm still NOB, but VoiP works for Replay. There is a dish already installed on the house we bought in Ajijic, so I imagine I will use that in conjunction with Replay. Since you will keep your same US # when you bring your VoiP modem with you, It's as if you were still calling from home, so there should be no change.

Does Tivo work via VOIP???

The answer is--- it depends. It depends on the series, and if your god is smiling upon you. Go to this forum and do a search on your flavor of Tivo. www.vonage-forum.com/forum9.html

Um, I can't make out from that answer whether there is/are cable service(s) around Lakeside that will allow a Replay modem to hook up to them and charge the owner a monthly fee for automatically downloading the cable program roster for the next 12 or so days.

That's the way mine works here in N. CA. Can do in Ajijic or nearby towns? If yes, any towns there at Lakeside where one can't do this? Is cable available everywhere there?

Best,

There's cable television service available almost everywhere at Lake Chapala, but no cable Internet whatsoever.
