Telecable Digital Channel 615 Chopped With SD Decoder

Can't Post | Private Reply
I just installed Telecable TV with the digital package using the cheap SD decoder. While flipping through stations I saw that Fox News on 615 is chopped off on the left and right sides as if a 16:9 format was truncated into a 4:3 view.

While annoying it is watchable. I'm trying to determine if this problem appears on all SD decoders or just mine and is the entire picture visible on HD decoders?

Hi: John as I PMed you yesterday, I was off to Seattle and am now there for a while. Give me about three weeks and I will want to come home. Well anyway I have no troublel with channel 615 lakeside getting the SD signal using my standard HD (Not DVR) receiver. I presume the picture is the old 4 by 3 format, and my HD screen is 9 by 16 but everything looks OK

Thanks Pete. Looking at the specs for the Telecable HD decoder it looks like it has HDMI, composite, S-Video and regular RCA outputs but no coax out to TV.

In order to connect to the slave TV in the kitchen I'd either need to pull out the old VCR and run RCA cables out of Telecable into the VCR and then coax out from the VCR or try to find a little Red/White/Yellow RCA cable to coax converter.

The signal has to go through the decoder in order to send it to other TVs so a coax splitter won't help. Gotta love challenges.

First I need to try Telecable for a month or so to make sure I even want to keep it and then deal with the other issues.
