Tech Problem with the Site

For the last several months (yes, months!), I've had an on-going problem with the technical side of MexConnect. Here's what happens: when I attempt to post, either an original post or a reply to another poster, I hit "Post Message" and am routed to the sign-in screen. Since I am always signed on, I simply click "Sign In". Nothing happens; the screen does not change. If I then hit the back button on my computer and THEN hit the refresh button, I see that my post is there, exactly where it's supposed to be. This happens every time I post.

I repeat: I am not signed off when this happens. So what's going on?

In addition, during the last week the MexConnect system has started signing me off, sometimes in the middle of reading posts. I click on a new post and discover that in order to read it, I have to sign in. I click "Remember me", sign in, and continue doing what I was doing before I was interrupted.

So what gives? I'm stumped. HELP!

I wish I had an answer. Could it be that you are loosing your internet connection just long enough to loose your login status? All I know is that I have never had the problem you are expressing.

I wish it were that easy, Pete. Internet connection has been stable as a rock. This problem plagued me in Guadalajara, where I used Megacable, at Internet cafes while I was in the process of moving, and now with Prodigy. It's not a server-side problem, as far as I can tell. I sure do wish it would go away, whatever it is.

Hi Esperanza,
I've discussed your problem with our techies in Vancouver. They suggest that the most likely cause is the settings on a firewall, virus or spam scanner you have working in the background. Assuming you do have something like that operating, they suggest you try temporarily disabling such software (or lowering its settings) to see if that makes a significant difference.

Hi Tony...thanks for taking the time to ask the techies about this. I wish I could say that their advice fixed it...unfortunately, I haven't added or changed anything about my hard- or software at home, and the problem has plagued me at a few Internet cafés when I've been away from my home computer.

I dunno, but thanks again.
