Satellite radio receivers

I read with interest Pete's column in the Guadalajara reporter regarding satellite radio. Does anyone know if the receivers can be purchased Lakeside or must one depend on mail order??
Thanks
Don

King: I know that the satellite dealers are thinking about bringing them in and selling them. But understand that when they bring them in to sell in Mexico, that they will have to bay import taxes thereon and that the final price you pay will be much more than someone would pay up north.

The dealers aren't ripping you off. It's just that their costs are greater than someone's would be, should he buy the unit in the US

Check with Mike or Mario at Satellite Systems of Ajijic at 766-1117. They were contemplating selling the units and might be able to help.

PS I was in Seattle and Dallas yesterday, before returning to Ajijic. It was below freezing in both cities. It sure was great to get back to Lake Chapala this afternoon.

You should have been in Dallas a day earlier, it was 72 that day, as it had been for almost a week. The morning of the day you were here, it was 22 and the temp never got above freezing. In Dallas, we can offer whatever kind of weather you want, it's just that no one knows when. This week, it has rained almost constantly; now many areas are flooding.

Thanks Pete. I ordered online and having it shipped to my address in Livingston. Escapees.com there will forward it to me. As for Dallas, I lived there for over 30 years and if you don't like the weather, stick around a day or two and it will change. Usually for the worst. I really don't care if I ever see snow or ice again for the rest of my life!!

Ditto your experience in Dallas. I lived there for about 26 of the last 28 years, and in November and December alone have experienced everything from two weeks with no temperature above low 20's and high teens (with lows in the single digits), to the 90's and everything in between. Almost the same in Jan-March, though not quite so bad, except for at least one obligatory snow or ice storm in Jan or Feb. Usually, not snow...ice. Much worse than snow.

The summers can be legendary for heat or, like the last two summers, somewhat "cool" and unusually wet. Then there are the three tornados narrowly missing me in South Arlington (about half-way between Dallas and Fort Worth) over the last four years...I took pictures of one from my front yard!

And I love thunderstorms, but they're more fun if it's cold outside, with a nice glass of wine in front the fireplace with the right companion! But I digress.
