Satellite TV

Hello everyone,

I live in Ajijic and am in the process of deciding what sort of satellite TV system to invest in. I keep hearing good things about Star Choice, and that is probably the service I will choose. However, I am wondering if anyone uses the latest incarnation of C-Band, and if so, I am looking for a comparison between the two.

Anything you can tell me will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have both Star Choice and digital C band. They both use the same technology, digicipher, in fact I can pick up the free-to-air Star Choice signals on my C-Ku band digital 4DTV-922 receiver. The picture quality is the same.

SO I say again, it depends upon the programming you are interested in. Check out the programming delivered by each system and choose which programming package you like best, then install the system that provides you the programming you like best.

And don't forget, that Ku uses perhaps a 90 cm dish and C band perhaps a 4 meter dish at least that is the size I use in Ajijic

We have a C band digital and it serves our purposes well. Networks, movies, great music and radio news and no rain fade or disconnects. We don't get all that the small dish gets but enough to meet our needs. We get Orbit program guide which has both c band and Dish. You might check out the programming in this monthly magazine.
