Several of the other forums have had all kinds of activity discussing the Samsung calling cards that used to allow you to call the US and Canada for 3.2 cents per minute, how Cofetel under of the influence of TelMex have blocked these cards and how there will be an appeal to the WTO about what appears to be a violation of the WTO regulations. Well there will be a reprieve, of sorts, these cards will again be usable in a couple of days. Shown below is an email I received 10 minutes ago from Samsung. You might find it interesting. Dear Samsung Customer: We thank you for signing up for our pilot program --- the Samsung “Unlimited Minutes” Call Back Service. We have been given a “reprieve”, of sorts. The communications officials in Mexico have said that we can allow the customers holding cards to “run out their time”. But we can only allow those who have purchased cards already to use their service at the advertised rate of 3.2 cents per minute. Once these cards are used up, the only way to get the low rate is to dial into a local access number that we provide. There is a time limit set on how long these cards can “play out” regarding usage. All current card holders must use their current time by October 20, 2005. At that time, we will provide a toll free number to use your cards, but the rate will be at 18 cents per minute, which means that your time will be cut short drastically. This is why we are introducing the new Samsung “Unlimited Minutes” Callback system. Once this service is introduced and ready for use (which should be around the 15th of October), anyone signing up for this exclusive callback service will be able to make “unlimited” calls to anywhere in the United States, Canada and all of Mexico. The rate for a month of unlimited minutes callback service will be $34.95, and will include 31 days of time from the day you sign up. This temporary callback service allowing you to again use your current cards will begin on October 05, 2005. Please do not call our “trigger” number until this day as there will be no callback or service until then. When activating the callback service for use of your current calling cards, you will call a Mexico Toll Free Trigger Number (01-800-***-****) (that’s: 01-800-***-****); and let the phone ring at least 2 times. ****=Samsung requested I not show this # to the public. Only those card holders who have registered will be getting or got this email If you receive a busy signal, then please wait 60 seconds and try again. You will never receive an answer on this line. We are providing an in-country Mexico Toll Free Number so that you do not have to worry that you might be charged for a call in case you do receive an answer, as is one of the inherent problems with many callback services. We are also providing live operators due to various other inherent problems usually associated with callback services (such as no call back; the system not hearing your input of the telephone number; or getting a wrong number due to system failure). Next, a Samsung Callback operator will return your call within 90 seconds, and will then give you access to the Calling Card Platform thereby allowing you to use the remainder of time you have on your PIN. The prompts and the manner in which you dial will remain the same. When calling the USA or Canada, you MUST dial 1 + Area Code + Number. Do NOT dial “01” or “011” before calling any USA or Canada telephone number. You must make the call to our toll free number “from” the line you signed up to have the calls returned. Please have your PIN number ready when you receive your callback so that you may proceed with your call. This service will only be available from 10:00 AM (Central Time) to 9:00 PM (Central Time); Monday thru Friday only. Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Because this is a pilot program, and Samsung has not yet rolled out this service in full, we can only take calls according to the schedule we just gave. Once the Samsung “Unlimited Minutes” program is rolled out for public consumption, calls will be taken at all times, 7 days a week. Please go to our website to view full information on our "Unlimited Minutes" program: http://www.samsungcallingcards.com/details.php?pid=219 We are primarily doing this so as to ease the burden of our customers that have suffered our “discord” with the incumbent telephone company(ies) in Mexico. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us by going to: www.SamsungCallingCards.Com, and clicking onto the “Customer Support” link at the top of the page. In the box that asks for “*Original Transaction ID:”, please put your Mexico telephone number (including city code + full 10 digit number) that you used to sign up for this service. We hope that your experiences with this new service, albeit somewhat prematurely introduced, will convince you that your continued patronage of Samsung and its products and services is a good thing.
