Puzzling Connection!!!

Can't Post |
Hi to all!

Got a brand new PC recently. Sign up with PRODIGY and was able to go online in a few minutes.Problem is

when I brought my PC to my new house I cannot connect. I tried it in the office no problem. To another friends house, works fine. Next, I called up TELMEX and explain them the problem. Next day, a technician arrived and did some technical remedy, but then when I tested the connection, still the machine cannot hooked up to PRODIGY. Then I brought up the PC to the service center and was told that a different cable(CABNOVIELE???) is needed. But when TELMEX visit again the house they say. The problem is the MODEM!!

Has anybody out there encountered this problem before.

I have not had that problem, but it is pretty clear that if the connection works at your office, your modem is OK. It sure sounds like a cable or connector problem. Have you tried plugging a telephone into the wall jack to see if it works correctly?

I wouldn't put much faith in what the tacobell guy says.

This is a good time to be living in Mexico.

I was gonna say the same thing about the phone jack. Sometimes they need to be activated...or re-activated.

And my experience with Telmex, both the phone and the computer branch, has been that they are professionals and knowledgeable. The one and only time I ever had a serious problem with Prodigy, they sent a tech from Guadalajara to my house, where he stayed for more than two hours and DID in fact resolve the problem...at no charge.
