Old Tape Recorder Repair?

Can't Post | Private Reply
Greetings all -- My husband has a vintage SONY 7 1/2" reel-to-reel tape recorder which is in need of repair. And a huge collection of tapes to go with it which he is sorely missing.

Can anyone recommend someone (Lakeside would be ideal but if not, Guadalajara or I suppose Estafeta to Mexico City)
who works on old -- like old Sony, Ampex, Tandberg, stuff like that -- stereo equipment?

ˇMil gracias!

You should ask the TV/stereo repairman in San Juan Cosalá. If he can't fix it (and I bet he can), he'll know who you can take it to. He's a really good guy to know.

Ask for directions from some of the folks who've been around Ajijic for a while.

Semi-directions: when you drive into San Juan Cosalá from the east, you'll see a street that leads diagonally off to the right. You can actually see his shop, on this diagonal street, from the highway.

Hey esperanza, he just moved his shop about a half a block away. Where? His shop is now on the main drag on the lake side of the road immediately across from where the diagonal road headed toward the store. I too take things there for repair.

(And on a personal note, I hope things are going well for you in your new digs)

Thanks for the update, Pete.

And yes, everything is wonderful over here in Morelia. If you're ever in the vicinity, let us know.

Hola Esperanza...thanks again for the tip on the stereo repair man ---we are heading to SJC tomorrow to try to find him...
are you in Morelia? We just made our first trip there last month and fell in love with it...what a gorgeous city! I just loved it.
We are planning to go back in the summer and spend some more time there --- when we get closer to the time can I pick your brains for restaurant recommendations etc.? (This isn't really technical unless you consider eating technical!)
