This may sound obtuse, but first you need to be sure as to exactly what it is you're being prevented from doing. A similar complaint was made about iTunes but it turned out that the service could be used from Mexico. I think what happens is that many of these websites will look at your IP address to see if you're in America or not. If you're not, they assume you aren't American, or more correctly, unable to pay using standard ecommerce tools unavailable in many parts of the world (e.g., MasterCard, VISA, and so forth.) In the case of iTunes, they put up a big warning notice saying that the service wasn't available in Mexico, but if you persisted with registering and then offer your U.S. based credit card number, they are more than happy to accept you as a customer. My guess is that Napster is the same way, but I could be wrong... haven't tried it. If so, you might consider iTunes as an alternative, but they make you buy individual songs however, and I don't care for that model. Napster has a model similar to Rhapsody -- pay a monthly fee and listen to whatever song you want -- which I used for quite some time and enjoyed immensely. Sadly, Napster doesn't support Linux, so I can't use it. If you can settle for streaming music only, then I would recommend shoutcast.com. It's a portal to free streaming audio and it's all commercial-free. To boldly go where no wig has gone before.
