Hey guys,

If you were building a house in Mexico and returning from an NOB visit, is there anything building-related that you'd bring down with you because the quality is that much better in the States? I'm definitely bringing some three way light and dimmer switches, but can't figure out if there's anything else.

You'll find a much better selection of fancy ceiling fans in the USA.

I found many styles of 3-way switches and dimmers at a wholesale electrical place. You don’t have to be a contractor to shop at wholesalers, but you may need to ask around to find a place.

Thanks Rolly. I'd love to bring fans back, and thought about doing so, but they're just too darn big.

By the way, I think that you, Carol Schmidt (on the SMA forum) and Peter Johanson (Tech. Mexico) may be tied for most helpful on Mexconnect (which is saying a lot, given how readily most people chime in if they can help.)

Fans are available here. And in a broad range of qualities and styles.

You can find practically everything you'll need for home construction here. The 3-way and dimmer switches are available even at Home Depot, although a large electrical supply store will have even more selection.

I did buy Kohler faucets in the US for my kitchen, which I could have as easily bought in Mexico, but that was only because I wanted a fancy polished brass model that a friend could get wholesale for me in LA. But that was 8 years ago.

I can remember a time when the selection we have now just wasn't available, but that's not the case today.
