LAGUNANET DOWN

If you are from the Lake Chapala area, you may find this post interesting.

You know how rumors spread. The latest is really a kick. As some of you may know, lakeside's first internet service provider, Lagunanet has been expanding over the years. And it was time to do a major upgrade.

So they sent out notices to all of their clients, at the email address provided by these clients two days ago stating that service would be interrupted on Saturday and explained why.

Guess what, either because some folks don't read their email or because they changed there email address, and didn't inform Lagunanet, some didn't get the word that Lagunanet was upgrading.

Apparently 18 folks showed up at the Lagunanet offices this morning some trying to confirm the latest rumor that Lagunanet was no more, only to see that rather than going out of business, Lagunanet was expanding.

I dropped by at about a half an hour ago and they were working like mad pulling wires etc. They should be up and running later this evening.

So NO, they have not gone out of business, but yes their upgrade is taking a few more hours than planned.

Major upgrades ALWAYS take more time than estimated. Ask IBM.
Getting older and still not down here.

Don't disturb IBM they are close to figuring out why the PC JR didn't sell, or was that token ring networks, or micro channel backbones, etc.

9:50 PM update. Things are slowly coming on line. No live access points yet. (That means the wireless towers are not turned on yet.) and dialup isn't working either.

But the mail server and those servers hosting his webPages are back on line.

What does that mean? That means if you are in the states or somewhere else in Mexico or the world and are connecting via another ISP, you will be able to check your email or look at his hosted web pages etc.

Poor Rod who started at 4 AM and the others who said they arrived at 8 AM, they are still at it.
