I have not heard yet of internet being possible over a cell phone in Mexico. I use it all the time when in the US but not in Mexico. If you find out that it works, I'd love to hear about it. My guess though is that Telcel will jack the price up very high, it's their nature. I have a mobile HughesNet 2-way sat dish and have connected in some very remote areas of the Republic as well as Guatemala and Belize. I also am able to use VOIP on the sat connection so that I can make and receive phone calls - nearly free, unlimited for $15 a month - to the US. There is a lag and it takes getting used to but the price is right. If you get satellite internet you need to keep the limitations in mind. It is not as fast as cable or DSL, there can be glitches that keep you off line at times (usually short) and heavy weather either where you are or where the network operations center (NOC) is in the US can knock you off. Also, it is very important which satellite you are assigned to and Hughes does not take requests, some finessing is in order.
