Hello everyone. Let me just introduce myself briefly. My name is Josch and I am 35 yrs old, and this is my first posting here on this forum (an excellent site by the way). I am a bilingual gabacho who is married to a beautiful Jaliscian chica for 9 years now and we currently live in the USA in Utah. The last time I went to Mexico myself was in 1996 for 4 months, and before that 1995 for 3 months, both times to the region of Santiago Ixcuintla, Nayarit. By the way, I had the time of my life, and I loved the people. This was way before I ever met my wife, as I had went down there with co-workers working in the states who were native to Nayarit. So my wife (whom I met and married in the USA) and I are finally going back to Mexico together for the first time this 4th of July to FINALLY visit her mother and grandparents (along with a handful of other relatives). So I have never been to Cihuatlan, Jal. yet. And this time we have a handful of business to perform while we are there. One of my most important tasks is to find a hi-speed broadband connection to install at either the grandparent's place or the mother's place, because I'm bringing a laptop and a webcam so I can connect them to Skype and then we will be able to have video conversations for free instead of using costly calling cards to keep in touch. I currently use Skype now to talk with full video to my wife's sister's family in Michigan State and now we all talk like once a week for free with full video. He has 512 kbps DSL and I have 5 mbps cable and we never have hicupps with video or sound. So it is an important task for me to at least try to get this connected. I also installed logmein.com software on this laptop so I can log into the console and do remote administration and fix things when they have problems, and they can just watch as I fix. This is how I manage the sister's computer in Michigan right now. Now the last time I was in Mexico there was not too much in the way of Internet to the average pueblo. But supposedly things are better wired now that it's 2008. Does anyone know if they use wireless internet, or DSL, or cable? I used to work for a wireless internet company here in Utah for several years, and I was tempted to bring some old equipment with me like a 24dB antenna and an 802.11b radio or something to maybe save on equipment costs, but now the airlines are imposing extra costs for exceeding weight on baggages. Is there anyone else in the Cihuatlan/Manzanillo/Barra De Navidad area who can give me some advice on Internet Service Providers (ISPs)? I will be staying for 3 weeks, and am hoping that I have enough time to find a solution for this. Josch
