Dish TV from TelMex

We are in the process of having the service installed. They say they have a number of english language channels and a number with SAP. Has anyone had experience with this service. Also, do you know if they offer "local" US City choices?

If you look at the Telmex Dish website, you'll see what you are getting - no US city choices at all -

Looking at their website, it is not clear which, if any, channels are in English.

Dish Network Mexico has some channels with English language programs and movies, but our friends report that the programs are repeated so often that their offerings seem stale after 1 month.

I've noticed that on the local Telecable channels too. They seemed to have too few movies that they showed too many times. But that makes sense, because some of the movie programming is the same.

With 300 pesos a month for Telecable, lousy service, programming and reception .... I'm sure you'll do better with Sat. Dish is competing with Sky and they were pretty good except for pricing at almost 500 pesos a month. Now they are both under 200 for basic I belive

I am hopeful that the SAP feature on a new TV will expand the offering. Does anyone have knowledge of the impact of SAP on Dish Mexico's channel choices?

Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) has been around for many years. It will make some difference, but sadly many stations choose not to transmit in more than one language. It sometimes happens with movies, but not as much as you would like. I have never known it to happen with live programming, like the news. At least not when I've been watching.

Somewhere on my desk in Ajijic (I'm in Seattle right now) I wrote down the approximate count for DISH Mexico. I don't remember the figures, but it wasn't that good.

I recently went from broadcast TV here in Michoacán to living in a place that supplies Megacable. The SAP I used to get on the broadcast channels are offered on cable also but without SAP.

There are so many more channels that broadcast movies in English with Spanish subtitles, but also a few that give English at night and the same programs and movies in the daytime in Spanish. There are also a few that have SAP, but on the History channel the SAP gives you Spanish and English simultaneously. I tried left and right channel but they both have the two languages at once. I thought that might just bea programming error but after a few months now it hasn't changed. I haven't given up hope that someday some engineer may discover and correct that problem though.

Hello!
When I got the telemarketing call for ‘Dish’, I was of course very interested. The sales rep assured me of English programming, but when I investigated, further I found this to be untrue. Although ‘SKY’ leaves much to be desired, I chose it over Mexican ‘Dish’ because there are far more programs in English with Spanish subtitles.
To mention just a few channels:
Discovery Channel, Fox News, Fox Sports, the American Network which brings ABC & CBS programming, TNT, WB, BIO...
Also, although you may find the films a bit outdated, there are a good number of movie channels, along with ‘pay per view’.
The selection of music is in my opinion worthwhile.
Hope this helps,
Cisci.
