Has anyone taken their DirectTV antena into Mexico to see if it works down there and how far south can you go with it?

In Mazatlan we can't pick up any signal with a regular 18 inch dish. We can get about half the channels with a 3 foot dish and all the channels with a 6 foot dish.

I was getting all channels until they changed cards. I live about an hour north of Puerto Vallarta.
Mine is paid for by a friend in Colorado. They sent me a new card and it doen`t work. If I call them to straighten it out they will know I am in Mexico and
cancel for sure

Suggestions anyone?

I hate to send you to another forum for your answer, but the forum at www.dbstv.com will have your answer. It is a forum of " the how to's of receiving digital satellite TV in Mexico"

They wont necessarily know where you are if you call them (unless you tell them). Just be sure you KNOW the address that you are subscribed under. I call and make changes all the time to my subscription. My subscription address is in Texas, but I don't really live in Texas. You CAN call them and ask for help with card replacement. Unless the card you are trying to use, or previously used was a card that had been "doctored:" If you were using a "doctored card" and are wanting to go "legit" , then you'll just have to play dumb and ask them to help you get your receiver working with the new "legit" card they sent you. The card and the receiver have to be "matched" in the DirecTV computer before it will work. Can you tell me more about the card that doesn't work? And some more about the new card you have? The circumstances under which you were sent the new card. Or, check that other forum for additional assistance.
