I live on Cozumel and get my television via an old fashioned cablebox supplied by our local Cablemas television cable service here on the island. I'm back in the states for a visit and am greeding after the prices on a Sony RDR-GX300 DVD recorder/player. But I have some fear that it may not be compatible with the aged cablebox system I have on Cozumel. I know it is supposed to work with cableboxes and I've read online that you can even do timer records using a cablebox if you have the code for your cablebox -- and piece of information I will probably have to go through PROFECO to acquire from our local company here but that's another story. Anyway, anyone have experience using a DVD RECORDER and a cablebox hook up here in Mexico? One person in the states reported having a terrible time getting good receiption because he was using a bad motorola cable box and that sort of sent out the alarm bells. He said he could record to the VCR just fine but the DVD recorder had a terrible picture. Input would be much appreciated and I will give more feedback as I continue to work on this problem. Thanks Carey on Cozumel
