Changes to C Band 4D TV satellite programming

AAaaaargh! I have signed up for very little programming on my satellite system and lost almost all of it today. No networks at all. Apparently, there was a switch to digital. Others around here who I know are getting the three US networks on a different channel but I don't and the folks I buy the service from in Ajijic frankly didn't seem to give a rat's ass. Nor did they want to refund my money for a service I'm not receiving. Said it's not their fault.

Anyone out there having the same problem? Solutions?

Hi Georgia: Yes, folks in the industry knew this was coming. I would have thought that your satellite dealer would have informed you in advance of the change. The signals went from analog to digital. And if they are not showing any respect, maybe it is time to change satellite dealers and or program providers.

To save money, why not go directly to say www.callnps.com and using a US address and credit card order directly from them. That way you do not have to pay a large fee to a local satellite dealer for C Band programming.

Yes you could consider upgrading to a digital receiver, but just maybe it's time to consider changing from C band to the small dish. And before you choose DISH don't forget to consider the Canadian Star Choice System.

Your neighbor Rod, Bubba and I prefer Star Choice to DISH

Thanks, Pete. As it turns out, I do have a US address linked to my credit card. The address is in Texas. If I do that, are there people locally who can come in and align my satellite receiver and do what has to be done? Anyone in particular you would recommend? Husband is a surveyor who, when he read the satellite dish installation directions, said 133 degrees west of what?? Surveyor talk. I dunno.

There are various satellite dealers who can help align your dish. Sadly I do not know about Joco. Luckily you are fluent in Spanish. Try to find someone from your home town of Joco. If you fail, I can get you the name of one from either Guad or Ajijic.

And buy the way if you find a good C band sat dealer in Joco, please post his name. Some folks closer to Ajijic are getting just as frustrated as you are and would love to have the name of another satellite dealer.

I took your advice about considering Star Choice and the provider came right to my house on Sunday and is installing it today. I like the system because we can have different receivers in the house so that it is possible to view different programs on different tvs: something I could not do at a reasonable cost with C band. Installation is a bit pricey, but monthly charges are very competetive, and the product is superior to what I had in terms of flexibility. More on this later after it is installed.
