C-Band receivers

Can't Post | Private Reply
Hi all,
I recently bought a 4DTV receiver for my C-band big dish. One channel that I was hoping to get is Deutsche Welle (DW), the digital German TV station, but now I've found out that my 4DTV receiver isn't compatible because it's not "free-to-air." DW wrote to me and said the Pansat 330 would do the trick.

Now I'm wondering if I'd be making a mistake buying one of this second receiver. The price is only $230 and the regular price for a 4DTV receiver is about $800. Surely, there's got to be a catch!
Questions:
1. Would it be possible to hook up both receivers or is it one or the other?
2. If I hooked up the Pansat 330, would I get the same channels I'm now getting from National Programming Service (USA, Bravo, CNN, etc)?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The Pansat 330A and the 4DTV 920-2 pick up two different types of digital signals. I use my 4DTV for the NPS programs that I bought and I use the pansat for the hundreds of free Mpeg-2 signals available to include DW. I have my pansat slaved onto my 4DTV which controls the movement of the dish between satellites

Should the instructions be too intimidating, a good satellite dealer will be able to help you with this basic setup.

Thanks a bunch, Pete. So there's hope, after all. I'll tell my technician to slave it!

Gracias, Kim
