C-Band help- Super Bowl

Can't Post | Private Reply
Hey C banders I need your help. I am hosting a Super Bowl party here in Central Mexico. Getting the signal in HD is simple, I shall watch the Detroit ABC network HD feed on my Motorola 500 Star Choice receiver (Digicipher 2 technology, transponder 285) The trouble is, because the signal is uplinked from somewhere in Canada, some to many of the commercials will be replaced by Canadian Commercials, and although some of the guests are from Ontario, we all want to watch the US commercials.

Where might I get a free ABC feed of the game on C band so we can watch the US commercials? T-6 trans 3? Although I have the NPS digital package I do not have the networks on the big dish. As I said above, I get them (Seattle and Detroit) from the Canadian Star Choice system.

Here in primitive Mexico on either side of my 60 inch Sony HD receiver, I have 19 inch tube units that I can watch feeds from my 922 and Pansat 2500 and should the commercials be different we can still watch them. Although I also have
DISH, the network feeds I subscribe to, are spot beamed and I can only watch them when North in Seattle.

FYI I have a 12 foot dish for the C/Ku feeds to the 922, HD200 and Pansat 2500, two satellite dishes, 2 meters and 1.4 meters in diameter, for DISH (110 and 119 W) and a much smaller 75E dish (36 inch by 26 inch) for the Star Choice feeds from Anik F-1R and F-2

While I have no idea what most of your post meant, I do relate to the lack of US commercials during the Superbowl. Last year we were on the Jalisco coast and I was bummed that all the commercials were Canadian, most of which were last years SB commercials. I had the sat internet dish though and we pulled up just the commercials from the internet. There is a way.

We're hosting a SB party here and I hadn't realized that I would again miss the commercials because we are on StarChoice too. Even the Seattle or Buffalo feed replaces the commercials? Are you sure? When we watch the Seattle news it has all the local commercials not Canadian ones. Course, up there it is sometimes hard to tell, maybe I'm wrong and some of them are Canadian.

We just watched a show tonight about all the previous SB commercials. I still think the Apple one from the 80's was the best.

Pete,
Can't help you with the satellite stuff but just heard on the news (2 min ago, CH 4) that the NFL was going to make the commercials available on the Internet along with other places(?). Hope this info will help somewhat.
Have a good game day.

Ron

PS: I believe that it will be a continous run of commercials one after the other. A show in itself.

Jonna: I have been hosting C band parties for several years now and watching on Star Choice. I never used to pay attention to the commercials, but my guests tell me that some of the US commercials are replaced by Canadian commericials, but only some.

When watching the Seattle news on the local affiliate via (via Star Choice), some of the commercials where not from and therefore for the Seattle market, but the British Columbia market

Ron: Thanks for the tip

Well Pete,
TG this was only a practice game for the big event next year.
IMHO the commercials weren't worth staying awake for. They didn't seem to match the hype. Only good one was the colt pulling the wagon, but then, Bud always had the best commercials. Hope your party was exciting !!
Good game though.

Well, I think the 12th man on the Pittsburg team was the refs. Really bad.

Yes I am really sad at the outcome. But at least we (the Seahawks) finally got to the Super Bowl.

What I did notice though was that all of the commercials on Star Choice's retransmission of the Detroit ABC station were the same as a US feed I was getting on my old fashioned C band (12 foot dish). So there no Canadian inserts. Hey, there aint nothing bad about Canadian commercials, it's just that I had heard so much about the US super bowl commercials that I wanted to watch and judge them for myself

So in this case at least, I got to see all of the commercials, something that I do not normally find that important. Oh and I too liked that Klidesdale (spelling) commercial. I heard yesterday that the commercial was quite hard to make because the colt was only 5 months old and difficult to work with.

For future reference Pete, it's Clydesdale.

"I heard yesterday that the commercial was quite hard to make because the young horse was only 5 months old and difficult to work with."

I always thought it was harder to teach old horses new tricks. At least it is with me.

"Well, I think the 12th man on the Pittsburg team was the refs. Really bad."

That happens quite often with "so-called Professionals".
