Adobe Photo Shop or comparable

Can't Post | Private Reply
Does anyone have recommendations for photo editing software? My spouse has just realized, to his horror, that Adobe Photo Shop was on his old computer which stayed NOB - it came with the computer - and he's looking for something similar and simple!
We're looking at the newest Adobe Photo Shop and reeling in horror from the enormous price - it's too much and too complicated - we're into simple.

I would suggest looking at Jasc Paint Shop Pro-10 for $80 Very good program essentialy the same as Photo Shop.
I still call it Jasc even though it was bought and now offered by Corel

I am a long-time, dyed in the wool, Photoshop user. Adobe makes a stripped down version called Photoshop Elements which I have played with. I think it is a good value. Look here: http://www.adobe.com/...shopelwin/index.html

Mil gracias to all for the replies - he has settled on something from Microsoft called Paint which seems, for him, to do what is necessary - free too. so I understand! Me - I know nothing about these things.

If you are using XP, Paint is already loaded in your computer. Go to start / programs / accessories. Paint will be on the drop down menu. (I use XP Pro; it is probably in XP Home too.) You can’t do much with it, but it is better than nothing.

Another free program is Adobe Photoshop album free starter edition. http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopalbum/index.html
Again, the editing capabilities are limited; it does have an automated Red Eye removal tool. Album is also better than nothing.

You can also download a trial version of Adobe Elements and use it for a month to decide if you want to buy it.

Like Rolly, I am a fan of the full Photoshop program, but I sometimes use the Red Eye removal tool in the free Album program because it is so easy to use, just click on each red eye. No choice of eye colors though.

I obtained on Ebay Adobe Photoshop 5.0 LE for windows at 19.99, then I cost $15 to air mailed to Veracruz, Mx.
I had level 4.0, which has problems with XP, but 5.0 works great.

Take a look at GIMP. It is a free open source software that now has a Photoshop work-alike interface. I don't do much photo editing so I don't know sausage about the various choices, however those that have used both seem to think that GIMP can do everything that Photoshop can do and it's free. Here is a link. http://www.gimp.org/windows/
