wild honey

A house guest bought me some honey from a street vendor in Ajijic, who said it is wild honey. I have no idea how it was collected, handled or packaged. It is liquid/granular, and in a plastic container like one for yogurt. Is it likely to be safe to eat as is, or should I heat it? This will drive off some of the fragrance, but reduce the chances of contamination.

I think I have answered my own questions. Since honey is a potent antibiotic, it probably kills any bugs acquired in handling. Toxins can occur if the bees take nectar from azaleas and a few other flowers, but these are low on their popularity list with all the other flowers around now. And if it is jacaranda honey, it may help my runny eyes and nose.

It's probably fine, but raw honey has been known to harbor small amounts of botulism toxin, whhich is not recommended for the very young, the very old, or the infirm.
