ultrapasteurized milk

There is a discussion on civilsma about ultrapasteurized milk being only 20% whole milk from the cow and the rest being milk solids, fats, milk concentrate. This info comes from two dairy farmers who have dairy farms near by. They did mention Alpura and San Marcos being 80% whole milk..Is this typical of all boxed milk..in Europe, South America, etc.?? Any insight in to this??

That's odd, San Marcos is one that I really don't like the taste. I like the Lala, it tastes like whole milk to me. The San Marcos tastes like reconstituted powdered milk.

I use Lala Clásica. I just went and looked at the ingredients list. "Whole milk" is the only milk-ish ingredient listed on the box. Hmmm.

I bumped this old thread as I have some other information on UHT milk. I have been drinking this milk since La La first came to market. I am not a wimp about buying Mexican products but normal store milk scares me. I have seen some of the dairies and they are not sanitary. Our 2 adult children who live NOB both have Crohn's disease. One day I was reading an article about Crohn's and the author had interviewed some scientists that claim the disease could be bacterial and that pasturized milk could be the culprit. I dont usually put much faith in that type of info but I do know that when we used to drink the Mexican store milk it would often go bad in days less than the best before date. Milk that is not clean or isnt processed properly sours quickly. UHT milk cannot contain any impurities as the high heat kills everything! This article also touted UHT as the best milk. I am sorry I cannot give a URL as the article was from a 10 year old magazine. When I first started buying UHT milk it had that burned taste. My wife dubbed it "milk that sucks". The current product does not have that taste.
