Margaret - they are grown on the berry farms in the Jocotepec area. Driscoll and, I think, one other US company usually have the buying rights to all the berries. They are grown for export and thus to export quality regarding irrigation and other requirements of the FDA. Most people wash their fruits and veggies, using Microdyn, which you can buy at any grocery store. Personally, I don't think you can soak raspberries, so don't and have not been any the worse for wear after several years of eating them.
