how do i make masa from fresh corn?

I am currently living in Southeast Asia and cannot find even commercial masa harina (like Maseca) anywhere-- let alone fresh masa. However we do have a local variety of corn that grows here. Can anyone help with a recipe for masa? Please, I'm desperate!

There is a 2 part article (with recipes) on the site by Karen Hursh Grabe, our resident expert.
The link is below.

Good luck!

this its the recipe from my grandma, i hope it works with you variety of corn. first buy the corn and clean it, put away all the garbage and wash it. then put it in a big recipent with water and a bit of quicklime, in this way the corn will open, but just put a little bit!, then put all in the fire and let the water boil until the corn are cooked. take your corn to mill and you have masa, dont forget to add salt, good luck!
