Where is Anonimo?

Just wondering why we don't hear from Anonimo more often, with his mouth-watering descriptions and pics of food. What are you cooking and eating these days, amigo?

Thanks Dee, and Todd; I haven't been posting much on food lately. One reason is that we'd been away, and another is that to a large degree, I've come to like Mexican food less and less.

Not EVERYTHING, mind you! But the comida típica has started to bore me.
I still like good tacos, soups, birria, carnitas, pozole, and mariscos. But there are just too many bad or mediocre versions of the comida available.

Tomorrow I'm making meatloaf, green beans and mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy for our comida. Now, THAT'S cookin'!

Saludos,
Anonimo

I agree, Mike. I was thinking about that today, how bored I have become with standard Mexican fare. I went to Dońa Martha's house for my regular Tuesday lunch and took with me a mess of fish, which I had rather have than more standard Mexican fare. She's a good cook, but after 7 years I have grown tired of so many dishes of chile colorado sauce over something.

Even my friend, Enrique, complains that he is tired "rice and beans" as he calls his native food. We both agree that we miss the great variety of food we enjoyed in Los Angeles.

Mike, probably we'll both get flamed.

I'm not going to flame you. Only want to ask what took you and Anonimo so long to discover what I've felt for a long time. After ten years of same O, same O, Mexican fare I scarcely eat out, rice and refried frijoles gets old fast. I was in the states for two months and loved eating at the buffets where I could pick and choose and veggies, veggies, veggies.....

We do have one cenaduria that prepares a pollo la plancha for us that is wonderful. We discovered that by accident after asking if they could prepare me a pollo sin breading. It's not on the menu. This same place sometimes serves a side of fresh vegetables instead of the usual rice y beans. I make it a point to tell the owner how wonderful the veggies are.
