Spaghetti squash?

Hello

I was chatting with my neighbours here, and we were talking about squashes.

Now for some reason, I thought spaghetti squash came from Mexico.
I described it, and it was something they were not familiar with.

What would I as for in the mercado or the grocery store here Michoacan to get the type of squash that I can "spaghetti" ?

I don't know, but I hope you will share your discovery! Spaghetti squash is dear to my heart, and experiments here in Nayarit have proven unsuccessful. Surely it would be available in the big mercado in Guadalajara, with seeds ???

I can't think of the name of spaghetti squash right now, but it definitely is available in Walmart in Morelia in the fall. Around October or so, when the winter squashes, e.g. acorn, butternut, turban, all come on the shelves.

BTW, when the winter squashes hit the produce aisle of Walmart, they are relatively expensive. But if you can wait until the day after Halloween, the price goes down drastically. Last year I made a huge score of winter squash at Superama -- some a peso apiece, and some only a peso a kilo.
